Weekend Coffee Share: Almost forgiven

Good afternoon! I know, I’m cutting it kind of close this weekend. It’s been busy…

Actually, that’s not true. The week was busy, but I spent almost all of yesterday in bed. I’m obviously not getting enough sleep during the week. I slept 11 hours Friday night, and then took a nap yesterday afternoon and never got out of my pajamas at all yesterday.

I have gotten stuff done today, though I haven’t left the house yet…

Weekend Coffee Share: Hold my Beer

#Update: When I wrote this, I hadn’t seen the latest news about the flooding. Hurricane Harvey, or Tropical Storm Harvey, has done quite a bit more damage than I thought, and my school has been canceled until September 5th due to the damage there. So, I am very glad I left when I did! And also, I’m sorry if my tone was flippant in this post.

This week’s coffee share title is something I wish I could take credit for, but it’s actually something I’ve seen floating around Facebook because of Hurricane Harvey, which actually, I’m thinking (at least for my part of the world) is thankfully turning out to be a bit of a let down.

Weekend Coffee Share: Two for One

This weekend, if we were discussing our lives over caffeinated beverages, we’d be again at the Panera Bread near my house. It’s tax free weekend here, which (for those of you not in Texas or various other states in the United States) is basically a shopping holiday. It’s like Black Friday, but there’s no sales tax on clothes and school supplies. I was supposed to be shopping, but instead I got my nails done and am now enjoying a delicious Caesar salad with Chicken while I compose my actual shopping lists.

I’ll venture out tomorrow… if I have time.

Weekend Coffee Share: Out of town.

If we were talking over caffeinated beverages, mine would probably be a Pepsi today. I’m home visiting my mother, who recently had surgery (and also just had her birthday on the 4th), and she’s not a coffee or a tea drinker. But, because my grandmother buys everything in bulk, the house is well stocked in Pepsi… which, if I’m honest, I have always preferred to Coke.

Shhh! Don’t tell anyone! I’m from Texas, where we don’t call it “soda” or “pop;” in Texas, you ask someone what kind of “Coke” do they want. Coke and Dr. Pepper are like the state beverages.

Weekend Coffee Share: Why I hate dating.

If we were chit-chatting over coffee (or tea) this weekend, we’d be sitting on my roommate’s comfy leather couch having a quick chat after having gone to the movies. We saw The Beguiled earlier today. I have to admit, the angry-at-all-things-male-at-the-moment part of me was particularly excited to see this movie.

I enjoyed it, though it took me a minute to decide I liked it. It’s not at all like the trailer suggests it will be…

Weekend Coffee Share: Distractions

This week, if we were gossiping over coffee, we’d probably have done it while getting our nails done. That took close to forever earlier today! I wasn’t going to get them done, but I’d peeled the shellac off from when I’d done them before, right before New Year’s, and it tore my nails up underneath. I was afraid that with them being so vulnerable, they’d break, and I had already cut them shorter than I like… actually I bit them. I don’t do it often, but when one of them breaks, I get some strange satisfaction out of biting the rest to the same length as the broken one.

Anyway, I went to get my nails done even though I can’t really afford to do that at the moment, and ran into my roommate.

Who had already been there for over an hour…

And we were there for close to 2 hours before both of our nails were finally complete…

But the final result looks pretty good, if I do say so myself!
