I’ve never been one to really put too much stock in the whole “New Year, New You” movement. I mean, don’t get me wrong, I believe whole-heartedly in the ideas of renewal and growth and change, but at your core, you are who you are. That’s the reason why expecting partners to change drastically usually ends in heartbreak.
But, and it’s a pretty big but at the moment, it seems that my new year is forcing me to embrace change!

My experiences on Tinder have shown me that the dating game is decidedly different than what my mother tried to prepare me for when I was younger!
As I’ve stated before, I am really just getting into the dating game. I don’t think I ever really understood how it was supposed to work when I was younger, and now that I’m really ready to settle down, I have to relearn all the rules to find a forever lover. And those rules are forever changing! The terms are different, and the rules about what is or is not taboo are very different.
Obviously, I am not a conservative girl. I broke protocol and instead of doing my recap of the previous year, I wanted to finish up some business that was lingering from 2015.
Having completely deleted the Boy from my life (I know I say that and then he comes back, but I don’t see that happening this time), and writing him a final email for closure (which was probably not necessary for him, but was very necessary for me), I can now enter into 2016 with a fresh new outlook.
